Club History

The Club was founded in 2003 by local sports enthusiast Todd Dawes, at some point also known as THE worlds most famous airbrush artist. After giving up on beeing sacked more than 5 times per game as a Quarterback in the Ft Lauderdale Flag Football League he decided to turn to a sport that would let him shine once again. With an add in the local paper and convincing words to some of his football misfits they started playing at Butterfly World. Pretty soon they drew the attention of the very spare local latin community and the club began to grow into a regular Saturday happening. More and more players that wouldnt make it anywhere else found a home at the fields of Tradewinds Park. After only a year playing at a recreational level the competitive fire in the former Football Star and record holder of the longest interception (82yrds) in college history sparked again and he along with one of his comrades from Germany who made his way up in the ranks of the club quickly with his impressive stories about his soccer history started the Lauderdale United Soccer League. From 4 teams which started the first season in November 04 the LDUSL has grown to 12 teams in the open division (Premier League) and 10 teams in the over 30 division (Champions League) in the Spring League of 08. A spring season as well as a fall season is played every year and offers all level of soccer players in the tri county area the opportunity to perform in a friendly and still competitive enviroment.

The Club also comes together on Saturdays for pick up/practice games at the fields of Calvary Chapel. For more information visit the Clubs web site at www.lauderdaleunited.com
